We bring the smithy to you.

We bring one or more of our mobile smithing set-ups, all materials and safety gear to your place and set up outside.
(We have a decent fly for cover in the event of rain or excessive sun)

We can arrange to do any of our usual classes, from A Taste of Blacksmithing to The DIY Off-the-Grid Guerilla Patternwelded Billet or a class/lesson/session to suit the student(s) needs, interests, and abilities.

With one forge we can accommodate one or two students who are from the same epidemiologic bubble/pod/unit. It is possible to bring an additional forge for additional students who can be from a different bubble (see below).

Most aspects of this experience are negotiable.

The listings below (if any) have only one space in them here on-screen. That's for the person who's organizing the class, all the details; start time, number of students, project, address, payment... will be handled by phone or text.
If a date listed below works for you (and your group) sign up for it and we'll work it out. We'll get it done so long as the weather isn't truly horrible.

If you'd like to discuss scheduling a Forge-to-Go session some time/day other than those listed below, please call Carl at 781 81oxide (781 816 9433) after 10am.
Calling is best, emails and texts often get lost in the flood.

Gift Certificates for Forge-to-Go are available.

Class length is negotiable, but typically 3 hours    dates&times

Instructor: Carl West
$100 base fee + $100/hr, 2 hours minimum
Additional forges $75 each
Travel more than an hour from Waltham will be a bit extra per student
Maximum 4 students

A rapid Covid test that day.
Yes, really, we're still asking for it in 2023.
It's still out there, and no fun at all.

The space to set up in will be outdoors, have good ventilation, and be at least 10' from any building.
Electrical power will not be required.
An accessible water spigot is required (or explicit forewarning that there isn't one), ideally with a hose to reach the work area.
Students and onlookers will be Fully Vaccinated or properly masked and reasonably distanced (6') or if unmasked, at least 12' away from the instructor.
Students shall not be displaying Covid symptoms.
We'll choose a day when we're sure it will be over 40 degrees F.

Please wear proper clothing for visiting or working in the forge:
closed toe shoes (preferably leather, preferably high-topped. Sneakers are sufficient, sandals, crocs, pumps, mules... are not), natural fiber clothing, long pants that cover the tops of the shoes.

Dates and Times:
If none of the dates below work for you (or are already full), we suggest you
Add yourself to the Notification List for this class.
(The notification list gets emailed soon after classes are put on the schedule.)

This class is either:
- not upcoming on our schedule,
- or we've fallen behind in our clerical duties and not entered it in the database.
If you found it on our calendar page, we are planning to offer it on that date.

If you're interested in taking Forge-to-Go and it's not on the calendar, please tell us using our Notification-List Page.
