Cooking Forks

In this class we will make a long-handled two-tined fork suitable for cooking at the grille or over the campfire (the top and bottom forks in this picture have turned some truly yummy steaks on campout).
This fork design can also be modified slightly to serve as a most excellent marshmallow toasting fork (S'mores anyone?).

The techniques involved will be splitting, drawing out, curling & bending, and if there's time, twisting. Check the bottom of the
Gallery page for a picture of student work.

3 hours    one meeting

Gift Certificates for Cooking Forks are available.

Instructor: Carl West
Fee: $105 per student
Class size is limited to 4 students (one per forge).

Prerequisite:

Required: A rapid Covid test that day.
Yes, really, we're still asking for it in 2025.
It's still out there, and no fun at all.

No previous smithing experience required, but if you've taken "A Taste..." that would be good. This project requires more patience and delicacy than strength of arm.

Please wear proper clothing for visiting or working in the forge:
closed toe shoes (preferably leather, preferably high-topped. Sneakers are sufficient, sandals, crocs, pumps, mules... are not), natural fiber clothing, long pants that cover the tops of the shoes.
