A DIY Off-the-Grid Guerilla Patternwelded Billet
Laminated steel, the stuff many folk call Damascus Steel

We'll be making a small (~1/2" x 1/2" x 5") billet or two of pattern-welded steel, what many call "Damascus Steel".
We will work with readily available steels (mild, strapping, hacksaw, transformer, bandsaw, bedrail...) to create a billet of layered steel that can be used to make any number of ornamental items (cufflinks and studs, door handles, buckles, forks, spoons... maybe the side plates on a
San Mai Knife perhaps? Just... sayin'.)
We'll discuss various ways of affecting the pattern... twisting, drilling, grinding, folding, cutting... then choose one to try.

The expected 'product' of this class is... a chunk of metal. With which something cool may be done.

Note: We'll be spattering molten borax around the room, dress appropriately.
