Ready, Set, Smith!
A good start in Blacksmithing

A straight-through series of classes roughly equivalent to the usual PHF offerings of "A Taste of Blacksmithing", "Rudiments of Blacksmithing I", and "Rudiments II" all in one package.

Shop Safety
Basic Hammer Technique
Fire Management
Drawing Out
Scrolling
Bending
Isolating Mass
Shouldering
Dishing
Punching and Drifting
Splitting
Forge Welding
Basic Tool and Tong Making
Sculptural Forging

Gift Certificates for Ready, Set, Smith! are available.

27 hours of class in 9 meetings of 3 hours each    dates&times

Instructor: Willow Zietman - Who also teaches at the Steel Yard in Providence RI (link to come) This class is taught at Prospect Hill Forge in Waltham.
Tuition: $790 per student
Maximum 4 students, one per forge

Prerequisite:

Required: A rapid Covid test that day.
Yes, really, we're still asking for it in 2024.
It's still out there, and no fun at all.

This class is intended for beginners.
13 years-old absolute minimum.

Please wear proper clothing for visiting or working in the forge:
closed toe shoes (preferably leather, preferably high-topped. Sneakers are sufficient, sandals, crocs, pumps, mules... are not), natural fiber clothing, long pants that cover the tops of the shoes.
