Prospect Hill Forge is dedicated to teaching, learning, and practicing the Craft and the Art of Blacksmithing. Our overall goal is to awake in our students the joy of working hot iron and an appreciation of the beauty of both the result and the process.

Some of our blacksmithing classes focus on theory, technique, and tool use.  (the Craft part)
Other classes focus on the creation of a particular object and making it well. (the Art part)
All classes are based on traditional blacksmithing techniques.

We offer semester-length courses, short courses, and single-session classes, from survey classes for rank beginners to monitored shop-time for advanced smiths.

Fitchburg Forge-In
The Forge-In went well. The weather was just about perfect and there was a good crowd of spectators. We needed more smiths. (Perhaps we can field a few from PHF next year.) It was interesting to work with a fairly well defined goal and a very defined time limit. With an audience. It was a little nervous-making, but it was fun. Check the Products page for pictures of the Suffolk latch.

The Sentinal and Enterprise article was pretty good (click the link then scroll down or search for "forge-in").
The TELEGRAM & GAZETTE ran an article too.
Richard Koolish took a bunch of pictures, this is one:
